Privacy
OK JSON processes your documents entirely on your Mac.
What the App Doesn’t Do
- No analytics, no telemetry, and no crash reporting.
- No account and nothing to sign in to.
- Your JSON — and everything derived from it, like History, saved jq filters, and JSONPath queries — is stored locally and never uploaded.
When the App Connects to the Network
OK JSON makes no network connections on its own. It connects only when you explicitly ask it to fetch something:
- New from URL fetches the URL you provide.
- New from cURL Command runs the cURL command you provide.
okjson://downloadfetches the URL on your clipboard.
The version downloaded from okjson.app additionally checks for software updates; you can turn this off in Settings. The Mac App Store version is updated through the App Store and performs no update checks of its own.
OK JSON ships with an Internet Access Policy file, so firewall tools like Little Snitch can show you exactly what these connections are for.
The Fine Print
